The intuitive e-drive electric driving system, which can be activated directly from the console, is composed of the electric power-assisted 5th wheel, whose operation is managed by the two sensor handles on the footboard.

Particular sensors, placed under the metal surface of the handles, sense the thrust force of the operator, both in the driving phase and in the reverse-march phase, allowing the bed to be moved in a totally intuitive and natural way.

After activating the e-drive system, just hold the sensor handles and apply a slight thrust force towards the desired direction of travel, to operate the 5th motorized wheel.
The bed will begin to move in the push direction, and the e-drive system will follow any change in pace impressed by the operator in the sensitive handles.

The e-drive system will automatically slow down and stop in the space of a few centimeters, from the moment the sensor handles are released, or if a force against the direction of travel is applied.

The physical overload of an operator is mainly due to movement along paths that have particularly steep climbs or descents (10%).

In cases where, along the handling paths, there are ramps, the e-drive system provides complete traction of the bed, completely eliminating the effort perceived during the push phase.

Conversely, when driving downhill, the e-drive system will automatically activate an engine brake, slowing down the bed and guaranteeing the operator perfect driving control.

Moving a hospital bed with a patient

Furthermore, the presence of architectural barriers, such as: narrow corridors, uneven or rubbery floors, elevators, long distances between departments, increases the risk of accidents at work, helping to decrease the operational efficiency of the health personnel involved.
